Dreamscape 2005-An Aural Ode to Friendship Reawakened on Mixcloud

The year was 2005. I had recently acquired my first DJ hardware set up that cost almost $2,000. It was then that I made an atmospheric escape for my dear friend.

“Dreamscape 2005” became a respite for my friend. However, for me, it was a mix that I had immersed in for 90 minutes, but that got lost in the push and pull of life. I have since lost the original recording. However I was mindful to keep the playlist written down should I ever decide to revisit the project. Sure enough, the day came.

After almost 20 years, my friend told me that she too had lost the original mix. She was only able to gather a few tracks from it, but that she didn’t have the playlist to tell her in what order the tracks were arranged. I decided that it was time for me to dig through the archives and recreate the mix. Now, after replaying the resurrected mix, I was reminded of how I wanted to tell stories through sound. I not only wanted to create a party vibe, but to create an atmosphere in which, as my friend put it, is like a “work of art.”
