Just dropped a fresh cultural fusion on Mixcloud that comes straight from the heart of Queens! This special mix was crafted based on song requests from some of the amazing folks at the Queens Economic Development Center, as well as from personal friends. Bringing together the best of Bollywood and Chutney music was a labor of love!
What Makes This Mix Special?
Simply stated, it was a shared project! Also it’s a musical reflection of the diverse voices and stories of our Queens community. Most of the tracks were personally requested by folks who are not only community members, but who I consider friends. Me being Hispanic, I didn’t grow up with either of these musical genres as my cultural backdrop. I did, however, hear it in passing car stereos and from neighbors’ homes. This mix is a true celebration of the diversity and proud cultural heritage here in Queens.
